(Bishi): A samurai.
(Ashigaru): Soldiers drawn from the merchants or commoner class, rather than from the samurai warrior class.
(Bakufu): A shoguns guvernment.
(Betto): The leader of a civilian, military or religiouse institution.
(Chonin): A class that emerged in Japan during the early years of the Tokugawa period. The majority of chonin were merchants, but some were craftsmen.
(Daimyo): was a feudal lord.
(Edo): The old name for Tokyo.
(Gosho): The Emperor's throne or his residence.
(Kubo): A shogun.
(Minamoto): Minamoto was a clan that defeated the Taira clan in 1185, also they established the first long-running shogunate.
(Bushido): The warrrior code of hnonor.
(Zen): A school of Mahayana Buddhism.
